SCCC CREATIVE WRITING FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

8:45-9:30 a.m. Registration and Sign-In 
Shea Theatre Lobby, Islip Arts Building
Participants are welcomed to the fifth annual SCCC Creative Writing Festival with a complimentary breakfast.

9:30-10:45 a.m. Welcome Address and Reading
Room 117, Islip Arts Building

11:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Panel Discussions
Various Rooms, Islip Arts Building
These sessions are for students and teaching faculty. They are discussion sessions with topics related to issues in genres, publishing, teaching, and the profession of writing.  

12:15-1:45 p.m. Lunch and Keynote Address
Montauk Point Room, Babylon Student Center
A complimentary luncheon will be served to participants.

2:00-3:00 p.m. At The Writer’s Desk
Room 117, Islip Arts Building
A moderated discussion with critically acclaimed writers about their writing processes, the genres they write in, and the art and profession of writing.

3:00-3:30 p.m. Coffee Break and Book Signing
Shea Theatre Lobby, Islip Arts Building
Participants will enjoy complimentary coffee and refreshments while having their books signed by the festival’s featured authors.

3:30-4:30 p.m. Creative Writing Workshops
Various Rooms, Islip Arts Building
These sessions are for students and faculty. They are designed to get you writing! Facilitators will present specific prompts or ideas in a variety of genres to motivate you to write.

4:40-5:00 p.m. Closing Remarks and Writing Contest Award Winners
Room 117, Islip Arts Building

6:00-10 p.m.  Off-Campus Reception
Please join us for dinner and drinks at the festival’s official conference hotel, the Hampton Inn in nearby Farmingville, NY. Complementary tickets to the reception are provided to all festival panelists, presenters and workshop instructors. Festival participants who are 21 years or older may purchase tickets to the reception at check-in or at the registration desk throughout the day of the festival for $20.
